A peptide pen is a pre-filled or pre-configured delivery device that contains a specified compound and concentration. Compared with a traditional vial, the pen format can reduce preparation steps, but the device, storage conditions, batch documentation, and product instructions still need to be checked. Pens are research formats, not automatically approved medicines.

A vial commonly contains lyophilized powder that requires controlled reconstitution, while a pen is supplied in a device designed for a pre-loaded or pre-configured format. A pen may be simpler to handle, but it is not automatically safer or more effective than a vial.
