What is Glutathione?
Glutathione is a naturally occurring tripeptide made from glutamate, cysteine, and glycine. It is one of the most abundant low-molecular-weight thiols produced inside cells and is commonly abbreviated as GSH in its reduced form.
Research uses the relationship between reduced glutathione and oxidized glutathione to study cellular redox balance. Glutathione also participates in enzyme systems that reduce peroxides and conjugate certain electrophilic compounds, linking it to antioxidant defence and cellular detoxification research.
